Questions
- Why does it open the print dialog?
- Because that is the browser’s PDF writer, and using it is what keeps the file local — choose “Save as PDF”. Generating it in JavaScript instead produces a picture of your text: larger, blurrier, and impossible to search.
- Is there a size limit?
- Only whatever your browser can hold — nothing is uploaded, so there is no request cap. Very large documents feel slow to preview, because rendering happens as you type.
- Can I control page size and margins?
- In the print dialog, yes: paper size, margins and orientation are all there. The API exposes them as parameters instead, along with headers and footers with page numbers.
