How do I delete pages instead of extracting them?

Name the pages you want to keep. Deleting pages 4 and 7 from a 10-page document is the same operation as extracting 1-3,5-6,8-10, and produces the same file.

Does the order I type the pages in matter?

No. Extract always returns pages in document order and removes repeats, so 4,1,4 gives two pages: 1 then 4. Use the reorder tool if the sequence you type is the sequence you want.

Why is the extracted file not much smaller?

Fonts and images are shared across a document, and an extract carries whatever the pages it kept refer to. Taking two pages out of a hundred usually gives a small file, but taking them out of a document with one large embedded font does not.
